The National Youth Chess Championship 2017/18

This is to inform you all that all arrangements are made to conduct the above event at DS Senanayake College from 27th to 30th December 2017 by the CFSL Team. They are doing a lot of home work for smooth running of the event. This is a huge event with the registration of 2,500 players. So, we cannot run such an event without your support. I kindly request from players, Parents, Coachers and accompanying persons to follow the below instructions as a support for us to have a better Chess Event.

1. Start of the event
Under 11, 13, 15 and 17 (Both Boys and Girls) Should report to the respective Sector Arbiter at 8.00 a.m. on 27th.
Under 7 and 9 (Both Boys and Girls) Should report to the respective Sector Arbiter at 9.00 a.m. on 27th.

2. Late Entries
We have not accommodating late Entries for the 1st round for any reason. We have removed the names even which has come through our organizers which we knew those are late. So, don't come and bother the arbiters on late entries because the decision has taken by me and they are not in a position to get a decision without me.
The late entries will be accommodated from 2nd round if any player wish.

3. Accompanying Persons
We request only one accompanying person to come with a child. If the security or an organizer sees more accompanying persons for a single players, they will not allow you to come to the school. If they see two in inside the school, they will ask one to go out. Please adhere to there decision without making any trouble for your player.

4. Parents inside playing venue
Only the parents of under 7 and 9 players parents are allowed to go to the playing rooms to find the relevant table for their players. Please go in make the player sit on the relevant table and come out. Anyway, the arbiters are checking the pairing with the players seated and don't worry about sitting the players are in wrong boards.

5. Chess Equipment
All players should bring their own Chess Boards and sets. A pen to score the game etc. Both players are requested to confirm their results wen the arbiter is entering the result.

6. Arbiters
The following International Arbiters will be in action:
Mr. Thiwanka Tissera, Mr. Erosh Jayasinghe, Mr. Pradeep Matharaarachchi, Mr. Werochana Perera, and Mrs. Buddhi Panagoda.
I will publish the sector arbiters list later.

7. Regulations
Do not know the rules and regulations or being a small child is not a reason for not penalizing for a dispute. So, be informed to report any incident to the arbiter at the moment it happened. Making one move after any incident will result in not allowing a right to claim.

It is highly prohibited talking among players while playing. Arbiters will be very strict on this. Any communication items including smart watches are not allowed in playing rooms. If found the relevant player will lose the game immediately. (But, we will not check bags or pockets.) ringing a bell also make the game loose.

8. Parents
This is to inform the parents that it is not our duty to provide facilities for you. As to the schools, they are not allowing parents in side the school in all other examinations or programmes. So, since we are pressing that they allow us to get you in.

But, we have ordered chairs for your convenience. I kindly request you to support us to keep you all inside in future events as well. Don't keep the chairs or walk on the greens or where some flowers or cultivation is there. Behave inside considering it is a school. I have noticed several times specially the ladies are keeping legs on chairs etc.

9. Garbedge
As you know, litter is the biggest problem in Colombo. So, it is recommended that all of you may go out of the school for the lunch. If you bring the lunch, please bring back the lunch remaining with you back. This is also a great support to keep the parents inside in future events. If you eat in a classroom please clean the place when you finish.

10. Selection for National Chess Teams

According to the National selection criteria, The Sri Lanka National Chess Team players are selected for official as well as other places in the Youth teams irrespective of the result of this tournament until the next year Nationals.
